Over the years I have ran a successful Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Monsters blog and a Cardfight! Vanguard blog. Those have been pushed under the rug ever since due to varying levels of interest in the games. So the question is why am I going back into card game blogging? The answer is simple, I love card games all of them. I've played, Yu-Gi-Oh, Vanguard, Magic: the Gathering, Hex, Elder Scrolls Legends, Spellweaver, Hearthstone, My Little Pony CCG, Ascension, Munchkin, and many more over the years most of which as a passing fancy or just for giggles. The common trend in all of them is that I played them all to some degree and am developing my own.
So now that you know who I am I'll tell you why I am doing this after the break.
So have you ever picked up a card game with your friends just to see what it was like and came out down 10 bucks and up a night of silly rule-breaking? Yeah I bought a MLP CCG starter deck with a friend, played all day, loved every minute of the silliness, and never touched it again. To remedy that, I plan on picking up every card game I can get my hands on and taking the time to play them, review them, and if I truly enjoy them spend some time theorycrafting and maybe make an actual investment if the scene is there.
It is daunting how many card games are released on Steam, or in stores or through Kickstarter. Wouldn't it be nice if someone were to investigate those games for you? Maybe even film some gameplay and deck techs or reviews of new releases in card games. I fully plan on taking the time to review card games from the lens of someone who plays them all.
So what do I consider a card game? Here are a few criteria: Is there a deck? Can you customize the deck? Do you play the game using cards as a main component?
For now, the first content will be a review of Yu-Gi-Oh as a whole TCG and OCG. This review will be as unbiased as I can make it as a long time player and someone who is consistently keeping up to date with a game they don't even play anymore. I guess I'll see you January 2nd by the way if you come across this blog and read this please leave a comment about content you'd like to see. Night!
